Tear Drops

Teardrops is a concept for a set of garments which facilitate an intimate encounter between long-distance lovers. The design includes a woman’s dress with a handkerchief attached to the sleeve and a man’s shirt with a tie. If the woman should happen to shed tears of joy or sadness and wipe them with her handkerchief, the shirt worn by her lover will begin to cry. The moisture on the man’s shirt causes a love letter, written by his lover and embedded in the fabric on his chest, to be subtly revealed. The engineering utilizes bluetooth mobile phones, batteries, water tubes, and electronic circuitry, all concealed within the collar of the man’s shirt.

Teardropsは衣服とコミュニケーションテクノロジーの融合により遠距離恋愛のカップルを繋げるプロジェクトである。 特別にデザインされたドレスにつながっているハンカチで涙を拭うと、遠くにいる恋人のシャツが微量の涙を流す。シャツの胸元はぬれることによって少しずつ縮みだし、その表面からは隠れていたメッセージが繊細に浮かび上がる。
