Psyches
Since humans chose to descend from trees to live on the ground, they have developed communication abilities not found in other species. One of them is communication by "eyes". It is a special trait of humans who have chosen to survive by using wisdom and empathy with their fellow humans. It has also been confirmed that blinking is synchronized between people who are close to each other. With smartphones and other communication tools in our hands, we are now able to exchange a large amount of information to many places in a blink of an eye without looking at the other person's eyes. However, even while we are staring at the screen and striving to symbolize our intentions for someone who is not here now, the world in front of us is constantly changing, and our minds continue to waver. This project is an experiential installation that dares to use the smartphone to focus on the delicate rhythms and resonances of the hearts that arise between people facing each other, and to extend them with a single optical cable. Capturing the fluctuations of emotions that appear and disappear at the moment when two people look at each other through the blink of an eye, the warm rhythm of the mixture of two colors of light in the cable reverberates throughout the exhibition space.
Through this work, I want to show the potential of technology that can not only expand the virtual world but also reveal subtle details that we humans today tend to overlook.

ヒトは、木を降りて地上で生きることを選択して以来、他の種にはないコミュニケーション能力を発達させてきた。そのひとつが「目」によるコミュニケーションである。それは智慧を生かし、仲間との共感の力によって生き延びることを選択した、ヒトが持つ特殊な性質である。親密な人と人との間では瞬きが同調し合うことも確認されている。 スマートフォンなどのコミュニケーションツールを手にした私たちは、いまや相手の目を眼差さずとも多くの情報を多くの場所へ向けて瞬く間に交換しあうことができるようになった。しかし我々がスクリーンに目をやり、いまここにいない相手へ向けて意思を記号化することに勤しんでいるその間にも、目の前の世界は常に変化し、人の心は揺れ動き続けている。このプロジェクトは、あえてそのスマートフォンを用いて、向かい合った人と人との間に生まれる繊細な心の律動・共振に焦点を当て、それを一本の光ケーブルによって拡張した体験型のインスタレーションである。二人の人間が互いへ向けてまなざし合う一瞬一瞬、現れては消えていく感情の揺らぎを瞬きを通して捕らえ、ケーブルの中で二色の光が混ざり合うその温かな律動を展示空間に響きわたらせる。
テクノロジーというものは、使う人間の意図や視点、そしてその使い方によっては、バーチャルな世界を拡張していくだけではなく、普段見過ごしてしまいそうな既にそこにある細やかな現象に気づき、それを拡張し、表現することができるということの一例としてこの作品を伝えたい。
