Distance - grandfather

Distance – grandfather presents memories of my grandfather through my eyes. It employes photographs that I took through a trip to his beloved hometown of Kumamoto and followed his footsteps, of working in a field of geophysical exploration, according to the photographs taken by him as well as his detailed diaries and autobiography. The very first job that he got was to take care of a huge German earthquake detector at Aso volcanological Laboratory owned by Kyoto University, which is located on top of the hill in the middle of nowhere. I visited this lab and I could find traces of him in many things I encountered there.
